Jim LaRoe has an in-depth discussion with Host Grant Asplund on the “Talking Cloud Podcast” about complacency in printer end point security, the dramatic risks presented by that complacency and what can be done about it.
Complacency in protecting printer endpoints is a widespread problem today. Jim and Grand discuss the 20:99:1:360. Print fleets, the collective printer endpoints in an organization, typically comprise about 20% of network endpoints, yet 99% remain unprotected from even the most common cyber risks. Just 1 unprotected printer endpoint is enough to bring down an entire business. The threat landscape is 360 degrees on each printer including physical walk up risk and stored adjacent system credentials. Jim and Grant also discuss how these risks are being increased with the advent to AI-enabled cybercrimes.
Despite supporting and enabling mission-critical processes, printers remain unprotected largely due to false beliefs that built-in OEM security features are being used to protect them or that printers are “going away” due to digitization and not a risk.
Jim and Grant also discuss Symphion’s innovated approach to mitigating that risk and keeping it mitigated for customers and Symphion’s 2 new offerings to address the complacency encountered.
