- Do you know whether those printers have domain administrator credentials being stored and utilized by those printers to access these network resources?
- Do you know which of your printers have unencrypted hard drives containing ePHI, ePII?
- Do you have a process to verify the removal and disposal of these hard drives at end of life?
- Do you know whether your printers have the “phone home” to the manufacturer features, such as automatic updates, are turned off on them so they don’t communicate off your network to their manufacturers?
- Do you know if the unused ports on your printers such as Telnet, Internet Print Protocol (IPP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP) have been hardened from “open” factory defaults?
- Do you know whether the USB ports on all your printers are hardened to prevent unauthorized walk-up physical access?
